Eau Claire Rivermen

The Eau Claire Rivermen’s inaugural season of play in 2017 was a memorable and successful one, as the ‘Men finished 13 and 9 in CRBL play and 15 and 11 overall.

Returning to the fold will be a familiar crew of grizzled veterans along with a promising group of young and talented players.

Fortifying the mound gang will be an entirely right handed staff led by stalwart Tyler Gray (5-2, 50 IP, 47 K, 3.00 ERA, 2 SHO), hard throwing Jesse Urbanek (1.74 ERA, 10.1 IP, 13 K), crafty James Davis (3-2, 28 IP, 17 K, 4.82 ERA), short-armer Andy Niese (3-1, 29 IP, 19 K, 4.34 ERA), as well as gamers Shane Boettcher and Matt Jones.

The hydro powered offense will be propelled by shortstop and 2017 CRBL Rookie of the Year Dalton Hutton (.404 AVG, 21 H, 52 AB, 8 2B, 1 3B, 8 RBI, 26 R, 12 SB, 23 BB), Honorable Mention pick Josh Briggs at 1st base (.359 AVG, 28 hits, 78 AB, 13 RBI, 16 R, 20 BB), All-CRBL designated hitter Andy Niese (.369 AVG, 24 H, 65 AB, 6 2B, 1 HR, 17 RBI, 14 R, 5 SB, 16 BB), as well as utility players Jake Krier (.339 AVG, 5 2B, 1 3B, 12 RBI), Sawyer Sturz (.341 AVG, 13 R) and Matt Alley (.319 AVG, 5 2B, 15 RBI, 11 R).

Athleticism and youth will be enhanced by the returns of Jesse Holman, Tim Schaller, and Bryan Sydow while dedicated veterans Zach Parr, Dave Roubal, Hans Soukup, Tim Wilson, and Chad Zutter will provide the stability every amateur team strives for.

Alas, the Rivermen will have to deal with two huge departures: 13-year veteran Terry McCann (.361 AVG, 8 RBI) has decided to hang up his spikes and 3rd baseman/pitcher Travis Tomaszewski (.306, 6 2B, 14 RBI, 15 R/2-3, 31 IP, 36 K, 4.35 ERA) has moved to Grand Rapids, MI. Both were outstanding teammates and valuable contributors – thank you and good luck Terry and Big T!!!

To our dedicated fans, we will once again be playing our home games at Stein, also known as “Bollinger #6”, in the large UWEC athletic complex on the southwest side of Eau Claire.

The Eau Claire Rivermen would like to thank our generous sponsors and advertisers as we begin our second season of play in the CRBL. GO RIVERMEN!!!!!!!!!
